Our Chiran Okumidori Ceremonial Matcha is a high-quality single cultivar matcha that we offer and it's one of the finest in our collection.
The tea leaves are sourced from the town of Chiran in Kagoshima prefecture, coveted for its tea cultivation. Harvested from the first flush in May of 2025. Only the most tender leaves were selected to produce this blend, giving it an extraordinary deep green colour.
This matcha tastes smooth, has a relatively deep umami flavour, and well balanced, with a gentle natural sweetness that softens its fresh green, vegetal notes. Instead of sharp grassiness or bitterness, it shows a refined character, with subtle creamy or nutty undertones. The mouthfeel is silky and full, producing a fine, velvety foam when whisked, and the finish is clean and lingering, leaving a mellow savoury-sweet impression rather than astringency.
We recommend drinking this as a tea with no milk (usucha) or as a latte with no added sweeteners.
